Post 1: Katya Grokhovsky -teaching as performance: proposal

I would like to investigate the power of teaching and mentorship as an art form. What does it mean to teach as an art in itself? How can I teach equality? Teaching as performance, as an action of the best intentions, an act of will and outpouring of the power of bestowing knowledge. As the war on women spreads steadily, the mentorship of women by women is needed ever more. As an artist, I’d like to build a project, based around teaching through performative acts, writing, research, drawings and collaborations.
Lectures as Performances – Radical Concept: once again? Do we need to re-learn, be educated, be taught about the fact of women being in our world? What happened? Where once again, did we go wrong and were we ever right? Women as human beings?
Classes – for men? How to treat and relate to women and girls? Form: Text, class (at the art school? see my concurrent project/residency  The Art School in Queens, NY)

A series of lectures and classes, performed for video and live, entitled “WoWman”.
A Textbook – instructions for men and women: Girl! Woman! A guide for the 21st century? The identity and construction of a woman today is becoming more and more simplistic. Somehow, after all the world has gone through, we have surpassed feminism, jumped over it, ended up in post-feminist sexist, rape-culture world, where woman is not only kinda- almost- nothing- really being, but has been somehow demoted to an absolute debased status of sex use  and has in many cultures and countries, become from an increasingly disturbingly young age a victim of extreme slavery, abduction, physical and mental abuse. What is to be done? How can it be done?
