Root System

The fourteenth edition of the Wonder Women Residency Project called Root System asks artists to propose and create artworks as part of a thematic project developed through weekly group meetings over two months. The cohort of ten artists will discuss their ongoing projects, philosophies and processes surrounding the projects and planning for installation and performance. The residency will culminate in an outdoor exhibition at Wildflower Sculpture Park in South Mountain Reservation in September 2026.

Here are some more poses. I cleaned up the scanned model and I created a “mock skirt” around her waist in order to better visualize the project. The points on the skirt (on the final piece) will be based on climate … Continue reading
Week 2- Reconnect
This week I scanned myself in a couple of different poses. I tried to channel Anna Mendieta and classic Yemaya imagery with three different poses. The one with my hands on my face seemed to be the most honest to … Continue reading

Reconnect (tentative project title)
As a first-generation American POC woman, I’ve started reclaiming indigenous/ancestral spiritual practices in order to deepen my connection to the earth and its presence in ways that go beyond data. Data is an important analyzing tool but is often ignored … Continue reading

Dissatisfied with MY strength…
So in hopes of catching up with my project I decided that I just need to start animating. The more I started animating on my canvas the more dissatisfied with the project itself I became. I feel like the project is becoming … Continue reading

Race, Shame, and Reproductive Health
A wonderful presentation from Melissa Harris-Perry. When she uses stats, factual information she uses the opposite of “scare tactics”. Check it out! watch?v=QXiJ_bOFKY8
