accidental introduction

IMG_5365-1IMG_5364-1IMG_5360Greetings. My Recent work investigates relationships between neighbors, the ethics of owning land, and the natural world traversing across property lines (see images). For this residency, I want to research the emerald ash borer (EAB), an exotic beetle that was discovered in southeastern Michigan near Detroit in 2002. Emerald ash borer probably arrived in the United States on wood packing materials carried in cargo ships or airplanes originating in its native Asia. As of 2017, it is now found in 31 states, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Since its discovery, EAB has killed hundreds of millions of ash trees in North America.
