whimsical

whimsical. this word was used last week when talking of my piece and has been on my mind all week. perhaps i am a whimsical artist.

finding my way this week as i craft treats, paint, draw, and craft decor and invites for the tea party for birds. i did some thrifting (thrift shopping) and found some great things for the party. i also utilized my local buy nothing group for some items, super fun project where you give your unwanted items away to your neighbors!

i have been vegetarian for over 25 years, many of those years vegan. my feelings about animals enter and reenter my work. always in a light-hearted and loving way.

this week brought some amount of struggle over the intent of my artwork. i find, unfortunately usually after the fact, that the more i over think a piece the less it is successful. i decided i had to keep at the project, keep playing with materials and have fun with it, after all- it’s a party for birds!

i hope to show that i have elevated my relationship with the birds of my backyard from a food source to a friendship.
