Im curious about you drawing from the poses of neoclassical marble sculpture. we now know that these sculptures were painted over, not just left white marble. contemporary Santos sculptures are always brightly painted ( i think they are plaster or ceramic?). What happens if they were not painted or painted one color? white washed? i don&#8217;t think I have ever seen an unpainted santo. its a different direction but the issue of color on the sculpture and race are there.
