I am very drawn by images of the sacred heart, which is often bleeding, flaming, pierced, illuminated and\/or crowned. (The crown, the heart, and the rose are very similar shapes that I would like to play with.)<\/p>\n<p>One of the projects I expect to complete during the residency involves the combination of the sacred heart and concept of white fabric.  White fabric is a sign of purity, a signal of surrender, used for protection, etc.  I plan to batik the image of the sacred heart on a sheet.
